What is Cystitis?

Cystitis is an infectious inflammation of the bladder lining. In most cases, this inflammation is caused by bacteria and is a type of urinary tract infection. Cystitis most often develops in women aged 25–30 years, and also over 55 years, i.e. after menopause. Up to 60% of visits to a urologist are related to acute or recurrent cystitis.

Why is D-mannose effective in the fight against cystitis?

Нофема 6

E.coli attaches to the lining of the bladder thanks to a special protein on the flagella of the bacteria. D-mannose prevents the attachment of bacteria and helps to remove them from the genitourinary system.

When taken orally, it reaches the bladder after 30 minutes and therefore quickly eliminates the symptoms and causes of cystitis. D-mannose can also be recommended as an alternative to antibiotic therapy.

The EAU-2023 clinical guidelines for urinary tract infections recommend the use of D-mannose to reduce the number of recurrent episodes of cystitis.
